3rd Platoon Charlie Company 1st Battalion 87th Infantry Regiment

On the 30th anniversary of The Battle of Mogadishu, it was an honor to be a part of the 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment reunion at U.S. Army Fort Drum.
In 1993, these soldiers were deployed to Somalia as Task Force Ranger's quick reaction force (QRF). They played pivotal roles in the iconic Black Hawk Down battle and a lesser known, yet equally significant, rescue mission days before.
Though much has been documented about some of these events, including a major motion picture, the stories of Charlie Company remained largely untold until recently.

"Thirty years ago, commanders grabbed 40 soldiers from 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division on short notice and attached them to another unit in the division... They were headed to a place called Mogadishu, Somalia."
